This course is for those currently in the role of office manager or for those aspiring to become an office manager in the future.
The school office in any educational setting is the hub of the school. It is a demanding place to work in and if sound management systems are not in place the effects will be felt throughout the school community. The essential qualities of leadership and management for this role will be explored, interpersonal skills with colleagues, other staff, pupils, parents and visitors will be assessed. Management of time, communication, organisation of workloads, dealing with difficult people and decisions are among some of the areas that will be covered on this course.
The course will be run by Peter J Williams whose experience in education spans nearly 40 years. He has held many posts in both state and independent schools – a classroom teacher, head of department, senior teacher and the head of two schools. Qualified as a music teacher he is now a holder of a Masters Degree, the NPQH and a Fellowship. As a university associate tutor he works with teachers in schools undertaking MA courses and is a day course lecturer covering many areas in education. In his spare time he directs a large choral society and a very successful local orchestra in West London. He is an enabler of both student and adult progression, encouraging all those he associates with to develop their skills and reach their potential.
