The NPQSL is a qualification that provides national recognition of your leadership development and professional achievement as an aspiring or existing senior leader. A National College for Teaching and Leadership course and part of their leadership curriculum, it has been successfully run by the Leadership and Training Centre with primary and secondary schools across Milton Keynes for the last few years. Under licence from the Thames Valley School Partnership this course is being offered by the Leadership and Training Centre at Shenley Brook End School on behalf of Denbigh Teaching School Alliance and Milton Keynes Teaching School Alliance.

The NPQSL is designed for those leaders who have, or are building, their experience in a senior leadership post in educational establishments. This experience varies across all organisations, but should equate to having whole school responsibility in your role. For those aspiring to senior leadership, it will be important that you can demonstrate good experience of whole school, strategic work alongside the Senior Leadership team.

This programme is an important step on the route towards Headship for those aiming at that level of leadership. It will also be vital in enhancing the skills and experience of well-established career senior leaders who can provide an excellent role-model for leadership across the new wider school system.

What criteria make you eligible for the programme?

In applying for the NPQSL, we ask you to address the following criteria:

1. A statement of experience of whole school leadership role(s), either through a senior leadership role, work alongside senior leadership teams, or demonstrable impact of whole school strategic work

2. A supporting statement from your Headteacher supporting your readiness for this level of development3. The ability to cover the cost of the programme, either personally or through your school.
