Formerly known as: Effective preparations for examinations The move from coursework and modules to linear exams requires teachers to develop a repertoire of effective strategies for examinations through a deeper understanding of the subject. Throughout this course we will support you in developing strategies that will better prepare your students, through study skills and support of revision and retention of information, to tackle demanding, essay-style questions with confidence. You will be able to: - Consider theories of learning in young people and adults - Review the most common problems that students have with study skills and retention of information - Describe different models of revision courses eg accelerated learning, individual learning plans, prioritising difficult topics and continuous revision blocks - Start to plan schemes of learning and the resources required to support it

Impact Award
Subject to funding from the Department for Education, this course qualifies for an Impact Award bursary for teachers/technicians. Applicants must be employed in a state funded school or college, including maintained schools, academies and free schools. Registration for the course with the Science Learning Centre also acts as application for the Impact Award. All participants will need to complete the Impact Toolkit on completion of the course. The Impact Toolkit will be sent electronically by the Science Learning Centre to each person booked. The Impact Award is a cash back bursary paid after completion of the course.
