This course will help you to identify the principles, strategies and resources that can be used to design a development programme that is valued by colleagues and demonstrates impact in the classroom. The skills you learn will support career development and increase your department’s capacity to offer school-to-school support. Networking and mutual support will enable you and your peers to explore effective ways to develop and share engaging content.
You will be able to: - Conduct appropriate needs analysis for all staff in the context of relevant frameworks eg Ofsted, local authorities - Plan a programme to meet these needs which draws on a range of professional development approaches and resources - Identify the particular needs of adult learners and know how to address these - Evaluate professional development and assure its impact

Subject to funding from the Department for Education, this course qualifies for an Impact Award bursary for teachers/technicians. Applicants must be employed in a state funded school or college, including maintained schools, academies and free schools. Registration for the course with the Science Learning Centre also acts as application for the Impact Award. All participants will need to complete the Impact Toolkit on completion of the course. The Impact Toolkit will be sent electronically by the Science Learning Centre to each person booked. The Impact Award is a cash back bursary paid after completion of the course.
